Hey guys! We are so excited to have Drake Ellingboe taking over our blog today to tell you a little bit about Lake State Kombucha brewed right here in Minnesota! We absolutely love kombucha and the healthy benefits to drinking it. You just have to try it! Drink it up and enjoy what Drake has to say about his inspiring journey in starting Lake State Kombucha......
What inspired me to brew kombucha:
Growing up in a
family-owned construction company, I worked a LOT. Long hours and manual
labor. I drank more energy drinks than any person should have. As we
were working on a chiropractor’s office, he noticed the energy drinks
and introduced us to kombucha. I loved the taste and noticed how good my
body felt drinking kombucha vs. Red Bull. From then on out, I began
brewing and fell in love with the process, the kombucha and the look on
people’s faces when they try kombucha for the first time and loved it
too.
How Lake State Kombucha became established:
After
graduating from the U of M, and home-brewing for about 4 years, I
decided to go for it and start a company. I had gotten great feedback
about the brew I had crafted and was noticing how popular kombucha was
becoming, that it made a lot of sense to begin the company. With a lot
of hard work and help from my family, we were able to build a small
brewery in Minnetonka and obtained our food producer license. We have
now been selling since September 2015.
What is Kombucha?
Kombucha is a slightly fizzy fermented tea packed full of
probiotics (for gut health) and antioxidants from the tea its derived
from. Kombucha is made by fermenting sweet tea with a living culture
called a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) which is where
all the good stuff comes from. Its estimated that about 70% of your
immune system is located in your gut so keeping the bad bacteria out
with probiotics from kombucha will keep you good and healthy!
At Lake State Kombucha we use all USDA certified organic black and green tea in our brew.
We
are a very drinkable kombucha and we’ve done that on purpose. Our 3
flavors are all delicious and refreshing. We also do not force carbonate
our kombucha, like the majority of other brands do, so our brew is
extremely smooth
Our Mission:
Ultimately
our mission at Lake State Kombucha is to help people live healthy
lives. That’s why we've crafted our brew to be extremely drinkable so
that even people who have never tried kombucha or have a negative
perception of kombucha can grab a bottle of LSK and enjoy the taste and
health benefits of one of nature’s healthiest beverages.

Kombucha has been consumed for centuries in various parts of the world for its purported health benefits, which include improving gut health, boosting the immune system, and detoxifying the body. However, the scientific evidence for these claims is limited, and more research is needed to determine the true health effects of kombucha.
