Hey guys! We were so inspired by this couple's story we just wanted to share it with you today! We are excited to introduce to you Tim and Elisha with Superior Wholesome Oats Co. They were gracious enough to share with us their journey in creating this amazing company. Here is their story, enjoy!....
Hi! We are Tim and Elisha Griffin, owners and creators of Superior Wholesome Oats Co. We started Superior Wholesome Oats Co. after moving to
Fergus Falls, MN in September from the west coast. We met in San
Francisco through working in the specialty coffee industry together, and
found a common interest in health and nutrition. While we were dating,
we started a program together to become certified nutritional health
coaches, and after we graduated, we left SF and got married. After an
extended honeymoon road trip started a health coaching practice together
in Oregon. 
Since we ate oatmeal every morning for its nutritional value, and encouraged our clients in the habit, we started changing it up and it gradually became an idea we had to start a company that sells a healthy-promoting option for breakfast that's also quick and delicious. In September we made the trip to Fergus Falls to make a home closer to where Tim's family lives. After spending many years living on the west coast, we both agreed that MN would be a great location to "settle down" and establish roots.
The Midwest and MN in particular have a strong sense of community and ethics. On the west coast it's hard to become a meaningful part of such large people groups. We see value in committing ourselves to a smaller group of people as friends and neighbors over the long-term. Fergus Falls gives us the chance to do this.
Our sense of adventure and love for the outdoors inspired our design choices. Attention to detail when it comes to aesthetic and packaging is a reflection of the same detail and care given to the product itself. We wanted the package to be something that holds a great product, but also is pleasing to see sitting on the countertop in the kitchen. The name Superior comes from the lake and wanting to give our product the hearty Minnesota, natural, outdoors spirit.
After all our years of working in the coffee industry we love, we look forward to our handcrafted mueslis being served alongside excellent coffee. Besides our website's online store, we sell our mueslis and trail mix at Sydney's Health Market in Moorhead, The Market and Meadow Farms in Fergus Falls, Good Earth Co-op in St. Cloud, and Stumbeanos Coffee in Fargo, ND.
We
are in the process of finishing a new wild berry muesli, which we are
excited about adding to our lineup. So far it includes strawberries,
blueberries, raspberries, and mulberries. In the future we plan to
create a Superior Oats granola, without oil and processed sugar. It's
very hard to find a granola with a good crunch, but no oil.
Whatever
your adventure, whether it be hiking in the Northwoods or driving the
kids to school on a blustery winter day, Superior Oats Muesli, Trail Mix
and Granola will keep you going strong!
