Simply Inspired: Alena Levina | Life Postcard

One thing about Alena is that she is not only an exceptional blogger, but she is truly a beautiful and inspiring woman inside and out. We have had so much fun getting to know her through her blogging journey; that it has really captivated us to share her journey with all of you! We hope you enjoy, because we know you will feel the same about Alena as we do and become "Simply Inspired"!

About Me:

I am a software developer / mom / fitness enthusiast. I love to spend time with my family and friends.  I love to explore all things related to travel, wellness, healthy lifestyle and fitness. I love coffee, wine and dark chocolate too:)  We only live this life once. So I try to live it at fullest,  my glass is never half empty, I strive for "good vibes" daily.. World is already full of critics and I think encouragement, support and positivity is the way to go. I am passionate about living a life that not only creates beauty but also discovers beauty in the life around us.

I was born in Soviet Union, lived in Belarus and moved to America when I was 22. The opportunities, freedom and life America gave me and my family are amazing. I love our state of the lakes, Minnesota, our friendly people - I traveled around the world and I think we live in great "undiscovered secret location":)

How I got started blogging:

Being a programmer,  I already get a great doze of creativity, but I wanted to create something of my own and also experiment with technical side of blogging like platform and skins and plugins (geek speak :)) and research google analytics. It was fun for me to figure out logistics and put pieces together. Now, blog is my cyber space of creativity, sharing great experiences, beautiful things I see and capturing my thoughts of the moment. I called it Lifepostcard as collection of pictures and moments that inspire me and thoughts that I can reflect later on in my life. And I hope - I can connect with more people and share thoughts and ideas through it. It is a fun feeling to write, work on combining pictures together, research and then publish that post to the world, it is lots of work, but it is fulfilling!

My favorite places in the world: California

Swiss Alps

Where I get my inspiration:

There is so much that inspires me- I wish I had more time to write!  Amazing strong people I meet, places I see, books I read, beauty of our state. one of latest posts was inspired by Gretchen Rubin books about happiness and currently I am working on couple posts : about my daughter birthday party and also about new fun yogi challenges. Inspiration is everywhere!

Some of my favorite things to blog about:

I love discovering new things  - I am very lucky to have visited many places around the world and I love sharing my experiences. I think we can all learn from this wonderful world around us that is filled with new ideas, thoughts, and people.

I plan to continue writing about my fitness journey, about inspiring people I meet, staying young by feeling strong and fit.  I became very passionate about wellness and fitness.

Costa Rica

Auckland, New Zealand

For those starting a new journey- I would encourage you to follow your heart, embrace change and discovery - many unexpected wonderful things come out of it. Dream is really a goal with expiration date - it is better to make it happen now, than wonder years later how it could and would have.

I would be happy to meet you at www.lifepostcard.com or on Instagram @lifepostcard

Dyeing Eggs & Pastel Nails

Spring! We love being able to start to see the end to winter in Minnesnowta! When the temperature gauge in our vehicles start to show 45 degrees Fahrenheit, we tend to want to open our sun-roofs and start wearing shorts! We start gearing for any chance to be able to be outside! Before we can even begin to think about the lakes opening up for water-skiing and tubing, we are geared up to be able to spend Easter celebrating with friends and family.

There are so many traditions that are associated with Easter; but the one tradition that continues on is dyeing Easter eggs. You would assume that it stops at a certain age just as trick-or-treating on Halloween, but dyeing eggs that is fun for all ages! Let's face it, we are never to old to find ways to be creative. That is why we are so addicted to Pinterest! It has taken our old ways of dyeing eggs and have turned it into a competitive art form.

When searching through Pinterest, we have found some fun & unique ways to dye Easter eggs without spending lots of time or money!

Here are just a few of our favorites:

Pastel Nails:

Nothing is more fun to see Spring with all of the light and bright colors. Whether you are wearing them or decorating with them, it gives you a reason to be happy! Pastels become some of our favorites as we begin to be able to break away from the darker wintery clothing apparel and start to bring out our favorite spring attire. Not only do we want to show off our new spring wear, but we start to make those subtle changes by changing our nail polish from darks (blacks, grays, neutrals) to bright (pinks, pastels) colors.

Some of our favorite nail polish colors going into Spring of 2016 are:

Let Me Bayou a Drink

Deborah Lippman Limited Edition "Blue Orchid"

Crawfishin' for a Compliment

American Apparel Nail Lacquer in "French Lilac"

These are just a few of our "Spring Favorites!" We hope this helps you break out your own creative side and makes you feel awakened for all of the best parts of spring to come!

Enjoy!
