Favorite Valentine's Date Ideas

Ahhh! Valentine’s Day, this is one of our favorites! The time to plan the perfect romantic night, with the perfect gift for your special someone….right?  Well yes, but not exactly the easiest to do when you are: 1.) Not super creative and 2.) Don’t have a ton of time to plan and prepare the perfect evening.  No worries, you can always count on Pinterest to give you a ton of great ideas! Just start by simply searching... and YES, you find a ton of cute ideas for the perfect creative date night. You will also find that some of these grand ideas require a lot of work!!! Who has time for all of that?  We all love our significant others and all, but come on, it would take days to put together some of that stuff!  This will make your life a heck of a lot easier! We selected our favorite fun date ideas that won't break the bank and it won’t cause you hours and hours of work to plan. Here are the favorites that we selected as our top choices!

1. Breakfast in Bed- Simple, easy, and who doesn’t enjoy getting treated to breakfast in bed!  Make their favorite breakfast, served with their go to morning beverage.  You can also be so kind to bring them their favorite magazine or newspaper (or the Ipad with the newspaper already pulled up).  If you want to spice it up a little bit…..well we will leave that up to you to decide.

2. Netflix Binge Date- Such a great idea for an at home no budget date!  Snuggle up on the couch with some drinks and popcorn to catch up on all your Netflix favorites.  Not sure what to watch?  Well…each write down your top 5 favorite movies or episodes on different slips of paper.  Put them in a bowl and draw out one at a time.

3. Set up camp inside- If it is honestly way too cold to camp outside like it is here in Minnesota, set up camp in your living room. Bring out your inner child and build a fort of your very own.  One that might include some candles, or Christmas lights, along with some drinks and snacks of your choice.  Be creative with the stuff you can find around the home to make it like you are camping outdoor.

4. Fondue night- Absolutely love fondue!  If you don’t have a fondue kit, you can usually find them just about anywhere and they are very reasonably priced.  Easy to prepare and fun to eat!  There are a ton of simple and easy fondue recipes online.  Fun for a dinner for two or to enjoy with family.

5. Selfie Date Night- Just admit it is fun to take selfies!  While you are having your date night take lots of selfies….have fun with it, be goofy!  After the night is over you will have lots of laughs and have captured some fun new memories.  If you need to make the leap and get a selfie stick, it might just be worth it!

6. Plan a game night- A little healthy competition is always fun!  Find some fun games that you can play as a couple and make up some prizes for the winner (again we will let you use your imagination).  You could always head to the gym and play a little one on one or go out bowling if you aren't into board games.

7. Cook dinner together- I mean from start to finish.  Plan a three or four course meal together with all your favorites.  Go shopping and pick up the ingredients together, and prepare and cook together.  Put on some fun music and have a glass of wine while cooking.  Maybe even add in a little food fight….who knows?  Make it fun and memorable!

8. Rooftop Hot Tub-  This one just came across while searching Pinterest. Well this sounds fantastic!  However, never have seen or heard of one around these parts.  So improvise…..set up your own hot tub movie theater.  If you have a hot tub already then you are set, if you don’t well, just use your bath tub.  Set up your TV or laptop and enjoy!

Well whatever you decide to do, we hope you have a great date!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Simply Inspired: Trevor James Products

We are beyond excited to share the journey behind this incredible company, Trevor James Products.  They have created a product with a purpose to be able to not only enjoy what they do, but to help provide clean water to impoverished countries. They are beyond amazing and extremely inspiring, and we are thrilled to have them on the blog today! Enjoy!

About us:

We are based our of small scenic town located in Massachusetts. We sell both beautiful watches and bracelets. We also donated a portion of our profits to Waves for Water which helps provide water to those living in impoverished areas.

The passion for this company came when our friends and family would complain that the price of fashion accessories was too high. We decided that something needed to be done. We can't believe how much it has flourished already.

Ideas behind the creation:

When deciding to start this company, we felt we wanted to create bracelets that matched our surroundings in which we live in. We came up with the anchor bracelets and then just worked from there. We have now brought on some anchor watches!

Being located on the water, we know nothing else besides it. The bracelets and watches at Trevor James Products are ocean themed and reflect the area’s specific waterscape. Colors like navy blue and teal will remind you of the beautiful and wonderful New England shoreline. Our bracelets and watches have a blend of our company's personalities in each and everyone of them.

Our Mantra:
Our mantra is to be yourself. We feel as though too many girls are so critical what everyone thinks of them. We are in the social media age and we do not feel as though it is a good thing. Girls should be able to express how they feel without caring about how many likes they get.

We want our audience to know that it is okay to be different and to help people when needed. We pride ourselves on being different than every other company. We treat you like family and that even includes a hand written note in each and every order. We value people over profit, which is another reason why we love donating to charities.

Tips for those just starting their own business journey:

When starting in your industry, take as many photos as you can. Contact as many photographers that you can. Reach out to as many people as you can. You just never know to where it might lead. This has definitely lead to our companies growth.

Styled in Shabby

Ok let’s talk about these outfits!! How cute are these?  We were sent these adorable pieces from Shabby Apple.  To be honest, these are not pieces that we would have naturally picked out for ourselves….for (one) we don’t get out much to dress up events #momlife and (two) we typically wear more of a causal chic style. However, we were pleasantly surprised when we received these in the mail.  They were the perfect outfits for our birthday photo shoot we decided to do for Kate’s 30th.  They turned out to be some of our favorite pieces we have worn in photos yet!  Maybe it’s because it is just fun to dress up or maybe it’s because we were branching out of the usual. Either way…we loved it!

So a little more detail….Kate is wearing the Gramercy Dress in the perfect shade of green!  I guess you could call it a kelly green (which happens to be one of my favorites, maybe for obvious reasons). The thing is this, color looks amazing on anyone!  Also, we love the delicate lace and the A-line hem of this dress….and it is truly comfortable, which sometimes that can be a deal breaker.  This would be a perfect dress for summer weddings or fun events in the spring….maybe even your Easter dress perhaps?

I am wearing the Muriel Straight skirt.  I love the look of the pencil skirt!  The pencil skirt is such a timeless style that looks great on just about any figure.  The look is so chic and versatile…..dress up with a blouse or button shirt for work or parties or throw on a slouchy tee or basic tank for a more casual everyday look.  I was contemplating what color to wear with my skirt and to be honest this Muriel skirt looked great with really any color I paired with it.  I probably would normally choose to pair it with a basic tee or tank, but I decided to go with this bright pink top from Express to add a “pop of color” for the fun birthday look we were going for.  The color and detail of the skirt is sort of hard to decipher in pictures, but let me tell you it is even better in person!

And do you want to know the best part???  These Shabby Apple favorites are on sale!!  Go check out their website, they seriously have the cutest stuff!
